Our (hi)story

The Cook Brothers

In 2005 Cook Brothers Construction was born, established by Richard McLeod, James Arnott, David Bulling and Ben Bulling. This construction company was the second successful business venture for the 20-something entrepreneurs, who were at the time known as ‘The Cook Brothers’ for owning and operating one of Dominion Breweries best-performing pubs; the famous Captain Cook Tavern in Dunedin.

Tree Hut beginnings

Cook Brothers Construction’s first project was one of our own developments, a $1.5 million conversion of an old, early 1900’s building into 8 luxury apartments. The project was managed from a small office in Dunedin, affectionately called The Tree Hut.

Becoming an industry leader

Cook Brothers Construction has come a long way in a short time. From The Tree Hut, four regional branches were developed nationwide. Cook Brothers Construction made the Deloitte Fast 50 index of the fastest growing companies in New Zealand, for three consecutive years.

Innovating the future of construction

Cook Brothers Construction is committed to leading the future of the industry by pushing the limits and exploring new, innovative solutions for old challenges. We constantly implement modern approaches and technologies into our workflow.
