St Andrew Street - Dunedin
Originally designed as a single level storage building in the 1880’s, on what was originally the inland extent of the Otago harbour, these wonderful structures had suffered much neglect and were in dire need of both conservation, and restoration. Being located in Dunedin’s ‘Historic Precinct’ provided the New Zealand Historic Places Trust the opportunity to meaningfully input their archaeological and architectural expertise.
Challenges met by Hadley Robinson - Engineers, ranged from shoring, underpinning and structural strengthening which included the ‘stitching’ of the original brick walls.
These two significant historic buildings have now been sympathetically restored and are set for another 100 years of service.
