Dunedin Ice Stadium - Dunedin
In its day, at 56 metres wide, the now Dunedin Ice Stadium was one of the largest clear spanned steel trussed buildings in the southern hemisphere. After winning the bid to host the World Curling Championships in 2009, Dunedin Ice Stadium engaged the services of Cook Brothers Construction to erect a 700m2, fully insulated mezzanine viewing platform. This extensively glazed area was designed to provide a warm environment from which spectators could comfortably view the events.
Cook Brothers Structural undertook the steel work required and provided hanging rods from the existing truss chords to support a Bondor Roof/Ceiling. Special thanks go to Viridian and Bondor for providing an excellent service.
The project was completed ahead of schedule in time for the World Curling Championships held in March 2009.
