Cook Brothers Construction has recently completed the brand new Manaia Lounge in Queenstown Airport, which was officially opened last Friday. This 350 sqm lounge is located on the mezzanine floor above the award winning international terminal extension which we built in June last year and replaces the older and smaller lounge previously located at the first floor of the terminal building.
The new terminal successfully catered for more passengers which coupled with the night flights meant a significantly higher use of the lounge. Planebiz co-owner and director Frank Ryder says use of their lounge has at least doubled since they first opened it 18 months and they could have never accommodated all their guests if they’d have stuck to the old one.
Cook Brothers Construction was engaged by Planebiz to manage the design and build of this fantastic project. We worked alongside CCM Architects and Southern Hospitality. The client was extremely satisfied with the service and Planebiz co-owner and director Frank Ryder says Cook Brothers Construction were "absolutely outstanding".
The new Manaia Lounge features a sophisticated mix of timber and Italian tiles which have been used for floors, walls (including a feature wall) and the servery front. The ceiling is a mix of timber decortech acoustic panels and giboard lined bulkhead ceilings with uplights. The IT desks have the same timber decortech as the ceiling panels on the wall linings. There is a large 5.0 metre solid timber dining table and bar leaners and coffee tables are also made from solid timber.
Manaia is free for Qantas Platinum One, Platinum and Gold Frequent Flyers and Qantas Club Members on international Qantas or Jetstar flights, as well as those with Priority Pass or Dragon Pass. A ‘pay in’ option is also offered to passengers travelling on any airline. Facilities include a business centre with free Wi-Fi, desktop computers, wireless printer, scanner and fax as well as TV and reading areas, dining areas and dedicated bathrooms.
