It was a proud table of team, clients and consultants who attended the 2023 New Zealand Commercial Project Awards on Friday, celebrating another year of building excellence across New Zealand. In particular, it was a special night for our Southern Lakes and Canterbury regions, whose efforts were recognised over three categories with Gold and Silver Awards.

With a stellar lineup for the night, our Canterbury team received three awards, signifying the region's high level of quality and craftsmanship. The Old Boys Collegians Cricket Club took home Gold in the Built Tourism and Leisure Project Award, recognising its unique character and construction with its eye-catching design and central fabric pavilion. Congratulations to Athfield Architects for this recognition.

Located in the heart of a revitalised and vibrant city centre, the Christchurch City Hotel was also recognised in the Tourism and Leisure category with a Silver Award. This architecturally designed structure has been a highlight for the Colombo Street area, complimented by the striking design by Architecture Studio Limited and the work from Beca and Kensway Consultants.

Rounding out the Awards for our Christchurch team was the Christchurch City Fire Station, recognised in the Civic Category with a Silver Award. Congratulations to APG Architects for the impressive design of the IL4 station, that despite its brute strength, was designed to be aesthetically pleasing and fit in well with its residential neighbourhood.

Congratulations also go to our team from Southern Lakes, who took home Silver in the Retail Category with their work on the impressive Upper Village Project. Occupying an elevated, 3300m2 site on the northeastern side of Brecon Street, Queenstown, Upper Village was brought to life alongside BSPN Architecture, ENGCO Queenstown, TSA Management and valued Trade Partners.

When reflecting on this year's competition, the judges noted the sector's continued innovation amongst the recent industry challenges. As always, our resilient and dedicated teams have committed to delivering operational excellence on each project, no matter the challenges. These Awards are a recognition of those efforts, and we are incredibly proud.

Congratulations go to all of this year's entrants and winners.
