Daffodil Day 2022

National Community 26 August 2022

What started as a small grouping of Queenstown friends and clients raising money and hanging banners for the Cancer Society has now become a nationwide effort to raise funds around New Zealand for those affected by cancer.

Now in its incredible fifth year, the daffodil banners are back! You may have noticed the 2m high burst of yellow springing up on Cook Brothers sites in Auckland, Otago, Canterbury and the Southern Lakes region. These banners represent a fantastic collaboration between a national network of Trade Partners, Clients and friends who have blown us away with their incredible generosity.

With more banners and donations than ever, the Cook Brothers team consolidated their efforts into a Daffodil Day telethon, hosting the events from their regional offices. Between calls, cheeky negotiations, banter and some story swapping, it became clear that no matter who you are, cancer has been a part of your life in one way or another.

After a challenging period of covid, isolation, restrictions and hardship, the overwhelming generosity of our community never ceases to amaze us. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and made this our most significant donation yet!

Remember to get out and donate, volunteer, support or participate in any way you can this daffodil day. Because cancer doesn't stop - so neither will we!
