About the Role: Yardperson, Canterbury

Cook Brothers Construction in Canterbury is looking for a fixed term part-time Yardperson to join our friendly, high-performing team.

You will play a key role in keeping our warehouse running smoothly by inspecting tools, equipment, and machinery as they return, carrying out minor repairs, and coordinating larger fixes with suppliers. Working closely with the Plant Manager and Build Team, you will make sure everything is ready and available when it’s needed, helping our projects run efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Keep our digital tool tracking system accurate and up to date.
• Check tools, equipment, and materials for wear or damage during pick-up and drop-off.
• Work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and service agents, contributing to a positive and collaborative team culture.
• Maintain high-quality standards across all work.
• Ensure work areas are tidy, organized, and efficient.
• Follow and promote strong health and safety practices

About You

You are someone with hands-on experience in a tool hire shop or a similar environment, with strong practical skills in maintaining and repairing tools and equipment. Confidence in keeping accurate records and managing tools and machinery in a commercial setting is essential. A strong attention to detail, a problem-solving mindset, and a proactive approach to ensuring everything is safe, functional, and ready to use are key to success. Being practical, organised, and collaborative will help you thrive in this role.
