Makita Supercharged Student Carpentry Awards Showcase Excellence in Carpentry

Cook Brothers Construction in association with the Ara Institute of Canterbury and Otago Polytechnic would like to congratulate this year's recipients of Supercharged Carpentry Student Awards.

Our Supercharged Carpentry Student Awards look to recognise apprenticeship and carpentry students who demonstrate the culture, vision and attributes that Cook Brothers Construction value. The Supercharged Carpentry Student Awards are based on: 

• Adherence for safety
• Concentrated improvement over the year
• Attendance and attitude to work and learning 
• Ability to work well with a team and share in celebrated success 
• Innovation, trying new ideas, coming up with solutions and overcoming obstacles 

Kori Kapa

"Kori was awarded the Makita Supercharged Student Carpentry Award for his hard work and success in the 2026 intake of our Carpentry Pre-trade Course. This award recognises Kori’s strong work ethic, dedication, punctuality and positive attitude throughout the course. His commitment to learning and improving his skills stood out to his teachers and classmates, making him a deserving winner. This achievement is a great step forward for Kori as he starts his journey in carpentry."

Connor Burnskey

"Connor was awarded the Makita Supercharged Student Carpentry Award. Throughout the year, Connor showed a strong interest in the industry and despite having a few curve balls thrown at him this year, he put his head down and did what he had to. He showed up to catch up days when he missed course due to other important appointments. When asked to do a task, Connor really worked hard and asked questions to help him understand before starting. When put on a task he worked efficiently and always got the task done."
