Cook Brothers Construction in association with the Ara Institute of Canterbury and Otago Polytechnic would like to congratulate this year's recipients of Supercharged Carpentry Student Awards.

Our Supercharged Carpentry Student Awards look to recognise apprenticeship and carpentry students who demonstrate the culture, vision and attributes that Cook Brothers Construction value. The Supercharged Carpentry Student Awards are based on:

  • Adherence for safety
  • Concentrated improvement over the year
  • Attendance and attitude to work and learning
  • Ability to work well with a team and share in celebrated success
  • Innovation, trying new ideas, coming up with solutions and overcoming obstacles

Brad Scoltock

"I have awarded a Supercharged Carpentry Award to Brad Scoltock. Brad was chosen for the award because of his strong work ethic and ability to work fast. He demonstrated a very keen attitude and was a great team player on site.

Brad has a clear vision of what he wants to achieve and took steps to buy tools early into the course, showing his commitment to joining the industry. He could always be trusted to complete jobs with little help. Brad is currently working with a construction company based in Rangiora and hopefully this will help propel him through his apprenticeship journey.

Will Klaver

"I have awarded a Supercharged Carpentry Award to Will Klaver. Throughout the year Will has progressed an outstanding amount. At the beginning of the course, he was a quite young man with little confidence. By the end of the course, he would push back on having a laugh and really progressed his skills within carpentry.

He really came out of his shell while we were doing the Gib on the house, he was confident in what he was doing and wasn’t afraid of the odd funny come back when I gave him a bit of grief.  I really enjoyed been able to joke around with him by the end of the course, and watch him grow his skills. He turned into someone that I could trust to get the job done and was always keen to learn."
