Rockgas Mosgiel LPG Depot - 01

Rockgas Mosgiel LPG Depot

Otago Commercial

Cook Brothers Construction Otago successfully completed the construction of a new LPG depot in Mosgiel for Rockgas.

The project involved the construction of three separate structures: the site office, the LPG filling floor structure, and the Tank in a Box (TIAB) — a precast, sand-filled concrete enclosure designed to house two 20-tonne LPG tanks.

Before commencement on site, the property owner completed the civil works package, which included ground stabilisation, installation of sub-ground stormwater infrastructure, and surface water elements such as kerb and channel at ground level. Additionally, the early works included the installation of all sub-ground conduits to service the future building structures.

The project was completed within a tight programme and involved some minor design complexities. Integration with separately engaged design and build contractors was effectively managed through strong communication practices, including weekly site catch-ups and regular fortnightly project meetings.

Cook Brothers worked closely with the contractor for the LPG mechanical installations to ensure effective coordination and seamless integration of the works, all of which were managed under Cook Brothers’ health and safety protocols. The contract was delivered on time and within budget, successfully enabling Rockgas to carry out its LPG filling and distribution activities in a safe, efficient, and fully compliant facility.
